美國職業女網名將小威廉絲今年8月才發表可能要卸下球員身份、轉換跑道的想法，近日又改口還沒要退休，和她從青少年時期就一起在網球賽事奮戰的姊姊大威廉絲，昨天透過社群媒體分享自己職網生涯28年紀念日，也讓人猜測是否她準備要高掛球拍。
昨天大威廉絲在IG發了兩張1994年、自己14歲時參加西南銀行女網賽的比賽照片，並寫道：「28年前的今天，我打了人生中第一場職業賽。從沒想像過我和妹妹28年來在網球所經歷的一切，我能細數自己的勝場數與敗場數，但最終還是要回歸追尋更好的自我。每一天不論輸贏或是因傷退賽，回顧這些年，我敢說自己毫無遺憾，所有付出都值得。

大威廉絲已經42歲了，雖然還沒正式宣告高掛球拍，不過外界也猜想是否她也接近從球員身份退休的日子，生涯在女單世界排名曾高居第1，擁有7座四大公開賽女單冠軍、16座四大賽雙打冠軍，也打下過5面奧運獎牌（4金1銀）。
不過2022賽季大威廉絲只參加了5站WTA巡迴賽賽事，其中單打4場、女雙1場，都是輸球收場，上次贏球是去年溫布頓女單第1輪，目前單打世界排名掉到千名以外，若想參加明年1月16日展開的首場四大賽澳洲網球公開賽，要看能否獲得大會提供外卡。
